So my mom and I have been working the same waitress job for 5-6 years now. She had been waitressing years before, but this is recently. Anyway, about… 15 minutes ago this guy she waited on left and told her to take care. Just that. Prior to this she had talked to him about Italy. Her people are from Florence, this and that, and she said she’s never been. She’s got 8 years of art education and she’s working a waitress job. It’s pretty… Sad and disappointing, I guess. Her and my father divorced 6 years ago and she hasn’t had a real job ever. Just been stuck in a small town she’s not from.
This man who we have never seen before tipped her 1000 dollars for a trip to Italy. Walked out, not another word.
…you know. Just when I start to lose faith in humanity….Hm.

I often base how much I like someone on whether or not I can picture myself reading with them. (You know, curled up with a book on a nice couch on a Saturday morning; light trickling through the window shades, casting shadows and printing ever-shifting designs on our thighs as we sit cross-legged…

Love is such a beautiful thing. I sit here in a half-full Starbucks and see two people in front of me, who are expressing so much Love. I think it’s a mother and daughter - i see similarities in their face. The older woman clearly doesn’t care about her appearance.. clearly. She wears a hat covered in blue rhinestones, an old XL black tshirt, and some cheesy pink sweatpants. Her hair flows out from underneath her hat. It’s long and doesn’t seem like it has been brushed. She has more important things to care for than her appearance.
She speaks to her daughter with such Love as she gives her several gifts. These are small gifts, but I can see the joy in her face as she watches her daughter open them. A scarf, some jewelry, and other assorted goodies. The daughter opens them with grace, and she can’t help but show the gratitude in her heart as she looks through them one by one with her mother.
They treat each other with such gentle care. Their words, their touch, their eyes. They are beautiful.

This raccoon never left the side of a cat who was dying of a tumor. The cat was comforted for the final hours of her life by her long time friend.
